West Coast Mainline (WCML) – Kings Heath Depot

Foreman Roberts were appointed by Siemens Transportation Systems to provide MEP Consulting Services for this new £31million Rolling Stock headquarters and traincare facility in Kings Heath Northampton.

The facility includes a “5 road, 4 car” 25000Volt overhead line, depot area with full length maintenance pits together with a bogie drop unit and a double headed wheel lathe, plus associated stores and workshop areas totalling approximately 4,750m2. Externally, the site is over one mile long, within which sidings are provided for the stabling and cleaning of 20No 4 car trains, along with a CET (controlled emission toilet) installation and a separate train-wash contained in a dedicated building. The rolling stock headquarters is contained within a new 2,500m² office accommodation, which is integral to the depot facility. Client: Siemens Transportation Systems.
