The project comprises the construction of a new maintenance facility on a brown field site including a 2 road 10 car 25000 volt OLE/diesel main shed with associated offices and stores, an adjoining trainwash, remote double headed wheel lathe building, a separate cleaners/drivers accommodation building, CET/fuelling roads and extensive stabling/sidings.

Foreman Roberts were responsible for providing energy & sustainability services for planning along with detailed external lighting designs, preliminary building M&E servicing strategies and utility services negotiations before delivering detailed designs and monitoring services. Building regulations compliance and carbon emissions reduction has been achieved by the integration of a photovoltaic array on the roof of the main shed.

Foreman Roberts were initially employed via Jacobs Engineering to work directly for Agility Trains (Hitachi) during the planning phase of the project, followed by VolkerFitzpatrick as Design & Build Main Contractor, followed by NG Bailey, for whom Foreman Roberts carried out the detailed design & AFC stages of work for M&E services.
